Calling All Little Superstars!




Think your little one is as cute as pie? Enter your child in the first-ever The Weekly’s Little Superstars contest and stand to win prizes worth up to RM10,000! Your child may also be featured in a kids' fashion spread in an upcoming issue of The Weekly.

All you have to do is e-mail us a photo of your child (aged between one and four*) to mww@acpmagazines.com.my. Include your child’s full name and date of birth, plus your own particulars (name, IC, occupation, mailing address, e-mail address and contact numbers). Closing date is December 31, 2009, so hurry and send in those entries now!

*Terms and conditions: Only children born from January 2006 to January 2009 can participate. Photos must be non-professionally taken, not digitally touched-up, and not published in any prior contest. Photos must be clear and recent (taken within the last month) to ensure your child does not look dramatically different from the picture submitted. Photos must be in high resolution, preferably in JPEG or TIFF format.

Malaysian Women Honoured


The Malaysian Women's Weekly recently honoured 18 outstanding Malaysian women at the third annual Great Women of Our Time Awards 2009 gala dinner and awards presentation. Held at The Ritz-Carlton Kuala Lumpur, the glitzy affair was graced by Guest of Honour, Her Royal Highness Tengku Puan Pahang Tunku Hajjah Azizah, and other influential women in power.

The 18 women were nominated in six categories and the winners for each category were picked by a panel of judges comprising Elaine Kwong, Editor of The Weekly; Prof Dr Halimaton Hamdan, Professor of Physical Chemistry at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia; and Dr Teo Soo Hwang, CEO of Cancer Research Initiatives Foundation (CARIF).

The winners are:
ARTS & MEDIA: Noor Mahnun Mohamed, Arts Manager of Rimbun Dahan Art Residency
FINANCE & COMMERCE: Ellynita Lamin, CEO of Azhaire
EDUCATION & PUBLIC SERVICE: Mary Chen, Publisher of Essential Associates
SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY: Dr Maude Phipps, Associate Professor of Molecular Medicine/Human Genetics, Monash University
HEALTH, SPORTS & WELLNESS: Prof Dr Yip Cheng Har, Consultant General and Breast Surgeon, Universiti Malaya Medical Centre
DESIGN & STYLE: Datin Noor Fatimah Ishak, Fabric Designer and Managing Director of Deanoor International

Additionally, another award - the "MOST INSPIRING WOMAN 2009" - was presented to Teri Choong, Executive Director of PJ Live Arts, who garnered the most SMS votes from readers of The Weekly.
